Music Ministry at Blessed Sacrament

We the parishioners of Blessed Sacrament Parish are very blest to have so many VOLUNTEERS who UNSELFISHLY give of their time to sing, play instruments, or help facilitate our music, so that out liturgies are truly a celebration of faith. For this ministry to continue successfully we are always in need of new blood: the young and the young at heart. We invite anyone interested in helping us to continue developing this ministry to contact Marilyn Gutteridge at 351-6855.

Resurrection or Funeral Choir

This choir sings at all of our funerals. We simply call you a day or two before the funeral and you come to the choir loft and sing with us. If you are busy that day, just let the caller know and she will call you the next time. We sing all of the good oldies. We hope to have a couple of practices this year so we can add a few more songs to our repertoire. Following, we socialize with lunch in the basement. What a wonderful way to give to those at such a difficult time. Get to know fellow parishioners and maybe even fill an empty spot in your life. Contact Marilyn Gutteridge at 351-6855.

Children’s Choir

All children grade 2-8 are invited to join. (There are exceptions for grade one students if they are really anxious to join, can read a little and can sit through mass quietly.) Practices start WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 15 after school until 5:00 pm. We sing at the 9 am Sunday mass beginning SUNDAY, SEPT. 26 until the end of May, with a little time off after Christmas.

How Do I Join?
You can register your children after ANY MASS on Sept. 12 at the entrances of the church or over the phone by calling Marilyn Gutteridge at 351-6855 at which time we can arrange for busing from St.Vincent’s, St. Agnes, John Uyen and Our Lady of Fatima. Yes! There is a bus at each of these schools that will drop the children off at the church parking lot on Wednesdays at the end of its route. You will be responsible to pick them up at 5:00 pm. Registration will also be taken at the first couple of practices.

How Do We Operate?
Our practices always start with a social time. We serve the children cookies and juice and give them a chance to get to know each other and play for a while. We then spend about an hour working on our music, a short prayer time and then dismissal. Joining this choir enables children to fully participate in our Sunday liturgies, develop new friendships within the parish, develop their reading skills and have fun all at the same time.

PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILDREN
TO PUT JESUS AT THE CENTER OF THEIR LIVES!

Contemporary Choir

After having July and August off, this choir is anxious to get back to work. Their first Sunday to sing is September 12. Chuck Fitzgerald, Beth Fox, Colleen Grison and company, keep our 10:30 am mass alive and uplifting. Speaking on behalf of the parishioners; this choir’s commitment, dedication and beautiful sound does not go unnoticed which is apparent by the large number of members they have and the way they can fill the church. They are also known to give extra during the Christmas and Easter season including much appreciated support at the large funerals we have had. Keep up the good work; we are ALL glad to have you back.
Contact Colleen Grison or Beth Fox for more information.

Woman/Teen Choir

Woman/Teen Choir. Our first practice is TUESDAY, SEPT. 14 from 6:45 until 8:00 pm and we begin singing Sunday, September 19 at the 12:00 pm mass. WE ARE LOOKING FOR MORE WOMAN AND TEENS. I encourage you the parishioners to invite our teens to come out. This is a great mother/daughter activity. What better way to spend a Tuesday evening. Contact
